Family Belongings
Hulu Sauce Dish
Stainless steel, porcelain
In the past, farmers from Northern China used naturally dried HULUs (gourds) to scoop water and wash rice. Tableware and eating utensils were considered essential family belongings that connected everyone to the same table, symbolizing harmony and a sense of home.

Today, people acquire material desires too easily, losing the sense of attachment to ordinary objects. JIA Inc. reinvents traditional family objects using porcelain to give new meaning to simple, rustic utensils and to encourage the reflection of the true meaning of family and home.

Sauces have always been an important element of Chinese cuisine. This set of miniature HULU are designed for the holding and pouring of various kinds of sauces.
